Growing Food
For anyone starting to learn about home food production, I can provide detailed advice and plans, based on many years’ experience of growing organic fruit, vegetables and herbs all year round, and teaching the subject both independently and at a local agricultural college.
You might decide to have a single lesson or advisory session, or arrange a series of appointments through the seasons. Whatever you choose, I will provide you with masses of tried and tested advice and inspiration.
I can advise you on where and how to set up your growing area, preparing the soil for different crops, how to select the right varieties, where to source seeds and when to sow them, how to work with pests and diseases, use a polytunnel, make your own compost, choose a dig or no-dig approach, use green manures, make plant feeds, plant, harvest, use and store your produce, plus lots more relevant information.
Cropping Plans
If you are dazed and confused by the complexities of planning an annual crop rotation, I can also create annual or 3-4 year cropping plans for your vegetable and fruit garden, showing you what to grow and where, and how to make the most of all available space.
